Updates To Jarod’s Cancer Fight
Jarod has been able to return to school.
To all of you who are following this blog about Jarod and his battle with cancer,
I have been given permission by his father to post updates in my blog. It is exciting that he has been able to return to school. It is amazing to realize that it has been almost a year since they started this battle. It still goes on. The good part is that Jarod is such a strong fighter, and that people have rallied behind this family. That is awesome.
They still need your help, encouragement, and prayers to continue this battle. Please pray that all the cancer is gone never again to appear in Jarod’s body, and for continued strength for the family.
For any of you who would like to visit the care pages to leave a note of encouragement or give a virtual gift, here is the link.

Murphy is alive and well in Duluth, GA!!!
Posted 9 hours agoWell, it is really turning out to be an interesting week. Jarod went for his blood transfusion today. It went really well. At least until Larry and he were waiting on the elevator to leave for home. Jarod started itching. You know what that means!?!?!? You guessed it…..he was having an allergic reaction. So they turned around and went back. Jarod was checked out and then given Benadryl via his port. Needless to say he was very sleepy until about 7 o’clock tonight. We had a Relay for…

Posted 2 days agoWhat a difference a few hours can make! MURPHY GO HOME…
Jarod arrived at the hospital with a little trepidation about the GFR procedure. You see, even though he has a port, he also has to be given an IV injection in the hand or arm. That’s where the medication has to be put INTO his system, while the port is where they will draw blood 7 times during the test. The nurse came in and set up for the IV. Jarod had a ‘meltdown’, like he always does, but he didn’t feel a thing when it happened…

Posted Sep 15, 2008 7:38amWell, we will be leaving for a GFR test at the hospital in about an hour. It’s a procedure that tests Jarod’s kidney function. It’s also the first of many tests he will be undergoing this week, in order to see how well his body is holding up to everything that’s been thrown at him this past year. Well, that and to find out if we are still winning the battle against the cancer that could still return at any time.
Can you believe there are only 7 days left till his ‘anniversary date’ of 9…

Posted Sep 10, 2008 11:42pmJarod has been back to school this week and is doing well. He certainly seems to enjoy it. However, he has been a little more tired in the afternoons.
Today he went to the clinic to have his blood counts drawn. His counts were:
WBC – 2.20
HGB – 8.1
HCT – 23.2
PLT – 508
ANC – 1.88They are concerned about his hemoglobin (HGB) being down at 8.1. They are going to recheck it on Friday and if it is 8.0 or lower, he will receive a blood transfusion. At least it can be done on an outpatient…
Low Counts & National Childhood Cancer Awareness month
Busy week
Murphy’s Law is still around!
Hopefully Murphy’s Law will go away for this family.
